ELDEN RING’s long awaited expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, is now available. The add-on takes players beyond the Lands Between into the Realm of Shadow, a new area packed with perilous dungeons, fresh enemies, and major boss encounters. Guided by Empyrean Miquella’s trail, Tarnished can uncover new lore and build options through an expanded arsenal of weapons, spells, skills, and equipment.

What Shadow of the Erdtree adds

Shadow of the Erdtree is a large scale expansion that introduces a brand-new world to explore, the Land of Shadow (also described as the Realm of Shadow). It includes new locations and dungeon spaces, additional story content centered on Miquella, and a wide range of new combat and build tools.

• A new explorable region with interconnected areas and legacy dungeons
• New enemies and bosses, including major set-piece fights
• New weapons, armor, spells, skills, and Ashes of War to expand builds
• New progression systems in the Shadow Realm to help you keep pace with its difficulty

New progression in the Shadow Realm

In addition to standard leveling, the expansion introduces region-specific power systems. Players can find Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes, then apply them at Sites of Grace through a dedicated Shadow Realm Blessing menu. These blessings provide meaningful boosts while you are in the Realm of Shadow, helping you tackle its toughest encounters.

How to start the DLC

Accessing the Realm of Shadow requires progress on a character that has defeated two optional bosses in the base game:

1. Starscourge Radahn (Caelid, via Redmane Castle and the Radahn Festival)
2. Mohg, Lord of Blood (Mohgwyn Palace)

After Mohg is defeated, return to the boss arena and interact with the arm hanging from Miquella’s cocoon to begin the expansion. Once you rest at a Site of Grace in the Realm of Shadow, you can fast travel back and forth between the Lands Between and the new region.

Shadow of the Erdtree is sold as a standalone expansion for USD 39.99, with bundles available for players who do not yet own the base game. Availability is global on the same platforms as ELDEN RING.
